The Funeral and Bereavement Team at the Catholic Parishes of Arlington is here to support families and loved ones during their time of sorrow and loss. We work with local funeral directors to ensure a reverent and prayerful funeral that honors the life of the deceased and commends them to God’s loving infinite and loving care.
We recognize that the grieving process is difficult and unique for each person and doesn’t begin and end with the planning of the funeral. We are here to accompany you in the days leading up to the funeral and beyond, including the planning of and participation in the Mass.
Music is a central part of the funeral Mass and can help in the grieving process. Music selections must be liturgical in nature and contain a sacred text. Although secular music is not permitted at the funeral mass, it can be included in a vigil service or reception following the mass. Requested music not on this list is subject to approval by the Director of Liturgy and Music and the Pastor. If you haven’t chosen music selections for all of the parts of the Mass, our Director of Liturgy and Music will make choices on your behalf. Be assured that these musical pieces will be carefully chosen and reflect the sanctity of the occasion.
After the Funeral
A Mass of Remembrance is offered on or around All Souls Day (November 2nd) for all those who passed within the past year.
