Welcome to the preparation process for children (and their families) preparing to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist for the first time!
Children’s preparation to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist for the first time begins in the home. It is the family that plays the most important role in communicating the Christian and human values that form the foundation for a child’s understanding of these Sacraments. It is the parents’ right and responsibility to prepare their children to celebrate Reconciliation and the Eucharist for the first time. It is absolutely essential that parents participate with their children at weekly Sunday Mass, to experience the Eucharistic mystery in an initial way so they can gradually learn to join with their community of faith in prayer.
At CPARL the preparation process for receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist for the first time is a 2-year process for ALL families. It is open to families with children beginning in Grade 1.

Year 1
4 at-church sessions for the entire family!
After Seek and Root, families who are ready can request that their family begin Immediate Preparation with their child for the celebration of the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist for the first time.
Year 2
Immediate Preparation
Through 12 self-led seasons for families (6 for Reconciliation and 6 for Eucharist) children and families will encounter the living God and hear the Gospel in a way that is personal, intriguing, relevant, compelling, and attractive. They will know that they are not alone in the journey of life, that they are blessed to be sons or daughters of a great King, and that God will never abandon them.
Families will receive a Blessed Reconciliation and Eucharist Kit, each contains a workbook, leader book, DVD videos (videos can also be accessed online for free), Mass Journal, CD of music, and Prayer Process Card.
Before celebrating each Sacrament (Reconciliation and Eucharist) each family will have a conversation with Meredith.
